Remains To Be Seen is a fledgling network of professionals and establishments attempting to engage with anatomy and pathology collections positively. It’s run by Carla Valentine, Technical Curator of a pathology museum who is currently embarking on an MA in Museum Cultures  (with an emphasis on exhibiting the body) at Birkbeck.

Here, ‘relevant’ remains are those from the year 1600 onwards, and ‘engagement’ with human remains may encompass research, education or simply preservation and display of this fragile example of material culture.

The site will list all those establishments which allow access to human remains in the UK, Europe and beyond as well as research projects and news stories concerning the upkeep and ethics of these collections.
